Yet another simple experiment

This time I wanted to create a simple banner, but according to parameters passed, it would load different movieclips and completely change the aspect of the banner itself. Again, this is very simple and ugly, but if you grasp the concept, you can imagine some pretty cool stuff. check it out under the experiments...

Amazing little application – do not miss!

Flazoom: A tiny Flash application that simulates the whiteboard experience. While simulating the whiteboard experience on the web is nothing new, this particular version is pretty amazing due to it's tiny file size; 24.4KB. To put that into perspective, the HTML file that makes up the home page of Amazon.com is 50.9KB — more than twice the size of this application. Because Flash can deliver these types of features with such small bandwidth requirements it makes the perfect interface tool for Rich Internet Applications (RIAs). In addition Flash offers developers a far better environment for controlling the interactions than HTML is capable of....

Last day at American Express

Today is my last day at American Express, and after almost 2 years of contract work, I must say it has been great working with such a knowledgable group of developers and professionals. We have truly created some amazing applications and pushed the boundaries of technology every time we could. Do not underestimate the potential of this group or anyone of you individually. Many times I have thought of how desirable a group like this would be to any corporation: perfectly balanced, with a wide variety of skillsets and most important, capable of undertaking any size project, any level of complexity and delivering quality products, not even matched by commercial software development companies on the market. I will miss the times we worked till the end of the day and the times we worked through the night into the next morning. (maybe not so much…) I would like to thank everyone in Miramar and everyone in New York I have worked with. Thank you for everything. I wish you...

Great article on User Experience

Think about it. Why do people buy certain brands, drink only specialty coffee, stay with the same type of cars for years and years? It is because these companies have mastered what is most important in our mature economy: an experience that draws users in and keeps them there. The fact is, in today's world, there are many products out there that can do what we need but few that allow us to do it quickly, elegantly and memorably. Take a 49¢ cup of coffee and serve it at Starbucks and customers will pay anywhere from $2 to $4 per cup! Why, because the customer is engaged in an experience – a series of memorable events that engage the consumer in a very personal way....

Great article on Application Usability

What Wal-Mart can teach a Software Developer If you live in small-town America, or in the suburbs of a US city then you may be familiar with the Wal-Mart store. Wal-Mart has taken the discount department store and turned it into an empire, becoming one the US's largest retailers in the process. The company posts profit after profit and is obviously doing many things right.(extracted from Flazoom)...
